The Benefits of Summer Courses

Summer Classes: To Enroll or Not to Enroll, That is the Question After the last papers are handed in and finals week is over, many students look forward to a summer of work, internships, and vacation. Others, however, choose to stick around campus and take summer courses. While high school students fear summer classes, those in college find summer sessions to be a valuable opportunity to get ahead. Before you enroll, consider both the benefits and disadvantages of summer courses so you can get the most out of your summer. Summer classes put students on the fast track. Taking summer courses allows students to earn credits â€Å"off-season,† which may allow them to graduate a semester (or year) early, saving money on tuition. These credits can also lighten a student’s course load during the fall and springs semesters, allowing them to better focus on challenging classes the following year. Students can use summer sessions to fulfill requirements they’re less than enthusiastic about or take a prerequisite course so that they can dive into a subject at a higher level come the fall. It may be easier for students to get into popular courses during the summer, a perfect time to dabble in subjects of personal interest or introductory classes for possible majors. Summer sessions may provide an optimal learning environment. Some students may find that they learn better in summer courses. Class sizes tend to be smaller, guaranteeing more personal attention and interaction with the professor and other students. Because summer courses generally start within a few weeks of the end of the spring semester, students are able to stay in the studying frame of mind and may have an easier transition back to college in the fall. It is generally advised that students only take 1-2 summer courses at a time, as they are much faster and meet more frequently than typical college classes. Additionally, the summer often promotes a more informal, relaxed environment for students that may be preferable to the rigorous tensions of the rest of the year. Keep In Mind: Summer courses may not be right for everyone. Summer classes tend to be more expensive than courses taken during traditional semesters, because there are fewer students but similar overhead costs. Students should also be aware that many financial aid packages do not cover summer classes. As mentioned previously, summer courses generally move faster than other classes because there is less time to cover the same amount of material. Most summer courses meet between 3-5 days a week for several hours over the course of 3-6 weeks. This can limit a student’s ability to get a job or internship during the summer, an ideal time to make money and build resumes, and can keep a student from enjoying well-deserved vacation. The summer provides a great opportunity for students to get ahead in their coursework with better focus and increased attention from their professors. It is important to recognize that summer classes are not for everyone, and their value is largely determined by personal preference and learning style. If you do decide to enroll in summer courses, be sure to also include the classes you’ll be taking in your fall schedule so that if you are unable to complete your summer coursework you don’t lose your spot in that class. If you enroll in summer classes at a local university or community college, first get approval from the university you attend to ensure that credits and grades will transfer. Some universities only accept credits from summer classes; in this case it’s important to note that performance in summer courses will not affect your GPA. Once you have clearance from your dean regarding credit transfers and have created a feasible schedule, you’re ready to take on summer classes. Happy summer!

Examining The History And Influence Of Witch Trials

Every Witch Way: Examining the History and Influence of Witch Trials Witchcraft was a crime no one should want to be charged with. It was something people were afraid of, it was heinous, it was truly evil. In most communities, it was one of the worst crimes you could ever be accused of. Many countries no longer consider witchcraft to be a crime, although some countries such as Saudi Arabia and Uganda still consider it a serious offense even to this day. The focus of this piece, however, is to discuss how countries like England and Sweden handled witch trial cases, how that may have influenced the townspeople of Salem, and how some Salem trials worked. The English had been hearing witchcraft cases for centuries before Salem. But, to no surprise, it was very hard to actually prove anyone committed the crime. â€Å"The crime of witchcraft presented an especially excruciating challenge. It was regarded as one of the most heinous crimes, yet, being clandestine by nature, it was extremely difficult to prove. The scarcity of eyewitnesses and direct physical evidence highlighted the need for innovative mechanisms of proof† (Darr, p. 3). The secret nature of the crime itself makes it hard to prove, which is one of the reasons that no one could ever successfully accuse someone of witchcraft today with the modern judicial system. These undaunted representatives understand that the work we're eager about and the difficulties we confront have high-quality results for specific participants. It is by means of their dedication that we are able to meet this scan and satisfy the advantage and warranty provided through science in these days. Current project governance and system The ability of any professional is to create merchandise administrations or distinct yields as without problems as would be allowed. In common associations and pre-industrialization, laborers have been typically accountable for all views of the construction approach in 'cabin organizations; buying and selling their surplus iteration for their different needs in local markets. The looks of industrialization and the division of work into profoundly specific operations acquainted the necessity for supervisors with arrange the production network, outline the work and direct the employees; to collect the efficiencies accessible from these "new" new release frameworks. The recommendations of administration were to a quality extent characterized within the late nineteenth and mid twentieth century. Sector-wide PM approach It deserves recollecting, the construction and finding out workers in any associations will produce some level of yield without a contribution from administration. What's extra, as Peter F Drucker remarked 'so particularly just a little of what we name administration contains of making it tough for individuals to work.' The ability of effective administration in an all around equipped association is to make efficiencies in the achievement of the 'ultimate sum' of the 'correct work' at the 'opportune time' which can be more noteworthy than the fees related with coping with the association (or in any event, sophisticated to any contending associations). To achieve this, the factors of estimating, arranging, overseeing and controlling the work, and recording the outcome; must be embraced within an administration constitution that illuminates the basic management anticipated to accomplish the superb outcome. Recommendations PMO guiding principle Trade esteem: the objective of all enterprise work is to carry business esteem. Judgment: Empower extend staff to choose picks about system application and alternate offs between measure, timetable, and spending when predominant. Task factor of view: recall the influence of venture selections on big trade esteem, no longer effortlessly venture or PMO targets. Shared accountability: Create duty to a mutual imaginative and prescient of enterprise results. Associate organization: establish individual associations with companions in view of authority, believe, and believability. Proactivity: Take a proactive strategy to maintain recognizing and deciding upon venture challenges. Hazard administration: permit proficient tradeoffs amongst enterprise and portfolio risks and potential prizes. Time administration: encourage lengthen chiefs (PMs) to esteem timeboth companions' and their own when selecting venture execution choices and overseeing gatherings. Fetched productivity: Calibrate asset make use of and prolong administration fees with enterprise wishes and anticipated returns. Reuse: When imaginable, utilize present procedures and apparatuses before making or purchasing new ones. Be that as it's going to, the satisfactory enterprise administration associations do not effortlessly tidy off these necessities constantly when they're making their each year association. They implant them into the daily mood of enterprise administration work in order that the specifications transform the consultant for collaborations between enterprise administration staff and companions, and the route in which PMOs and venture chiefs choose selections about asset allotment and aptitudes improvement. PMO governance Association to hierarchical ambitions implies that the tasks tried via an organization have got to have the capacity to demonstrate, in the industry case, the dedication to the association's destinations. With this dedication unmistakably expressed then the enterprise atmosphere is obvious and administration of the enterprise can warranty that the enterprise is founded across the influence as opposed to workouts. The high-quality string of appointed vigor is an on the spot chain of accountability. Inside this tie each individual desires to fully grasp what their vigor is and what should be eluded to a more multiplied amount of vigor throughout the chain. Reporting those to whom tasks were appointed has got to intermittently write about advance. Notwithstanding period reporting, additional reviews will have to be made if the individual with precise obligation cannot fulfill that obligation, or if irreconcilable situations emerge. Autonomous certification is an offset to self-reporting, and is a free check of the structures and methods to audit whether or not the ambitions will likely be met. Choice entryways at decided focuses in the venture existence cycle provide formal purposes of manipulate the place a choice is made to concede or restoration vigor for the venture to proceed. The crucial administration of an association distinguishes and actualizes the lengthy haul goals of that organization. The resolution of undertakings (in initiatives or portfolios if suitable), and finishing them effortlessly, is a bit of the association's exercises to accomplish these pursuits. In this means the organization, on the key stage, probably wishes to hook up the administration constructions for the administration of undertakings. Associations have corporate administration, of which enterprise administration is a subset. Extend administration fuses those ingredients of venture administration that are at the venture level, and additionally dealing with the element of the venture. Templates and delivery mechanism An advanced PMO may have boundless responsibilities regarding the establishing and development of the venture administration work within the organization. For this concern the PMO will lead on the plan, and create, execute, work, keep up and impart the techniques, procedures and unique add-ons anticipated to empower the operation of commonplace concepts of venture administration within all undertakings embraced by using the organization. This comprises the definition, alternative, presentation, utilization and utilization of benchmarks, instruments, forms, strategies, approaches of operation esteemed principal with the aid of and within the association to inspire the looking at, control, administration and fame reporting of the tasks being talked about. To empower a progressed PMO to whole these errands, the knowledge and aptitudes of the PMO employees will have to be better than these required for the important and even transitional PMO. The choice, instruction, preparing and ceaseless improvement of the PMO work force required to do these errands is likewise the responsibility of the PMO. A choice solution to maintain characterizing the sort of PMO is to take into account the extent of control and influence that the PMO has on the ventures within the organization. That is the strategy prescribed by way of the PMI: Consistent PMOs, or PSOs, supply a consultative part to ventures by way of delivering codecs, great works on, getting ready, entry to information and classes received from special undertakings. This type of PMO serves as a venture retailer. The level of manage gave through the PMO is low. Controlling PMOs supply bolster and require consistence by means of distinct method. Consistence may just comprise receiving enterprise administration constructions or procedures, using certain codecs, structures and devices, or conformance to administration. The level of manage gave by means of the PMO is direct. Mandate PMOs take manipulate of the ventures with the aid of specially coping with the undertakings. The level of manipulate gave by means of the PMO is excessive. Conclusion The PMI association demonstrates that PMOs may also be competent and, in a couple of workout routines and situations, may have extra manipulate over a enterprise than the enterprise director. On this manner, the ingredients and tasks between the venture director, the PMO and special parts of the organization, will have to be unmistakably characterized and viably imparted. The PMOSIG account in endeavor 2 observes 'attentiveness of PMOs' via the enterprise administration calling, as opposed to of independence'. It is the entire more by and large concerned with expanded administration and obliged basic management. For those similarly new to enterprise administration, or with restrained studying of PMOs, it could create the affect that the PMOSIG article without problems highlights the differing characteristics of organization and work and offers couple of complete responses to the query postured within the article. The final passage in regards to the outlines amongst PMOs and venture d irectors is a fascinating inquiry for companion administration and the modification of force between them. Prior on this course we highlighted the requirement for just right relational competencies and these are similarly required in associate administration and in conveying and consulting with senior supervisors. Digital Forensics for Needful Things Ltd- myassignmenthelp.com

Question: Discuss about theDigital Forensics for Needful Things Ltd. Answer: Introduction Needful Things Ltd. is a company known for providing specialized industrial battery servicing. Mortimer Smith was the best worker of the enterprise (Peterson and Shenoi 2016). The CEO, Ricardo Sanchez pleased with his performance even parted trade secrets of the company, however, Smith resigned and started a company which will provide battery servicing. The CEO started an investigation and now claiming Smith took away confidential data of the company. The CEO is suspecting that he probably steals all the clients' data and wants to start his own business. Thus a forensic examiner has been hired and the entire report has discussed the investigations procedures elaborately. A forensic examiner receives a phone call from the CEO detailing his story, advises the forensic examiner will provide to the CEO The forensic rule states that the crime scene must be made frozen after the crime has been committed. Therefore, a forensic examiner must freeze the location where Mortimer Smith used to sit. The drawers and lockers must be freeze as well. The forensic examiner must advise CEO of Needful Things Ltd to calm down and relax (Nance and Bishop 2017). The forensic examiner must also please him by saying that as a forensic examiner it is his responsibility to take charge of everything. Ricardo Sanchez should not start the investigation himself, any wrong step can be fatal, instead, he should cooperate with the forensic examiner. The CEO must declare a day off, investigation in the regular office hours can be hectic and there is a chance that evidence can be stolen (Sang 2013). The seat of Mortimer Smith, the drawer, the locker, the phone will be thoroughly examined and the forensic examiner must handle this himself. The evidence collected must resemble the current scenario while being prese nted to the court that is the reason why the crime scene must be frozen. The forensic examiner expected to attend an interview with CEO, an HR representative and a member of the Needful Things IT Department The forensic examiner must ask the CEO about the character and personality traits of Mortimer Smith. The forensic examiner must ask about the workings of the company or the business activities they carry out in short. The CEO told that he imparted knowledge and the trade secrets to Smith (Van Baar, Van Beek and van Eijk 2014). The CEO must explain in details the particular trade secrets he imparted, in this way the forensic examiner can get to know the trading techniques in details and can be aware of what exactly Mortimer knows. Only after knowing the details the investigation can be started. The HR must have the details of the resignation of Mortimer Smith and Avon Burman, the emails they sent, the exact time and date when they sent emails can prove to be helpful for the investigation (Braun 2014). The forensic examiner should ask for the supportive documents that are why they must seize the computer, the hard drive as well as the server called Titanic01'. The IT Department staff has the call list. The call list can let us know the clients or any persons whom Smith and Burmon call. The forensic examiner should ask for the call list. The desktop and hard drive they use must have the necessary information thus the forensic examiner should ask for the hard drive and the desktop. Some excel sheets and the word documents that are password protected must be opened and accessed and so the IT department staff must provide the password (Braun 2014). The forensic examiner must ask for the password, if the verification fails then the forensic examiner will have to imply the brute force attack to open and access those password protected files. During the interview, the phone and desktop of Mr Smith are presented to the forensic examiner for examination and it is expected from him to prepare chain of custody, and steer the CEO in the best possible direction to get the best outcome of the investigation The forensic examiner must consider the digital evidence while conducting the investigation. The crime is somewhat related to copyright infringements and in this case he can copy the trade model and the infrastructure of Needful Things Ltd. and can use for their own benefits. Both Smith and Burman can steal the clients data as well. Thus the CEO must cooperate in preparing the chain of custody. In case of the copyright infringements the following evidences are taken in to consideration, they are- address books and the contact lists, the cloning software, scanners and the printers, CD-DVD/RW, USB drive, gain access to the peer-to-peer networks (rnes 2017). In this case the contact list can prove to be helpful to know the persons or the clients Smith call and communicate. The last couple of months data can do the job. Also some CD/DVDs have been found that can prove to be helpful for the investigation. The files found on the CD/DVDs can be helpful for continuing the investigation proce dure. One 16 GB Kingston USB memory card has been found which consist of Excel files. One of the excel file that has been found contain a suspicious file named as CLIENTS2017.xls. The original files residing in the Titanic01 must be collected. The network printers can be equally beneficial; they act as the printer server that acts as storage for printing logs. The access to distribution network is one form of digital evidence, the companys Internet Gateway Firewall gives all the information regarding the outgoing internet activity and the incoming internet activity. Smiths internet search history can be accessed by this way (Marturana and Tacconi 2013). The CEO must verify all the files and should compare with the files stored in the server Titanic01. The files which are confidential stored in the computer and the hard drive must be identified, if those files are password protected then he must provide the password to open and access those files, if those files are not accessible, then the forensic examiner must access those files by brute force method. Thus it is absolute necessity to recognize the files to prove Smith criminal and The CEO must help by every means. A breakdown of what types of evidence the forensic examiner will deal with, details of the facts surrounding the investigation The investigation is based on the copyright infringement. The copyright infringement consists of the VOIP phones contact lists, the network scanners, the USB drive, the CDs. The copyright infringement can assist in finding out the vital information that can prove that Smith has committed a crime. The CEO mentioned earlier that he found a suspicious excel file on the 16 GB Kingston drive and the file CLIENTS2017.xls is password protected. The file needs to be accessed and contents should be analysed (McClelland and Marturana 2014). The Internet Gateway Firewall caters all the information with regards to the outgoing and the incoming internet activity. This can assist in trace out Smiths Internet search history. The call list of the VOIP phone can be helpful to know the clients with whom he chatted and the person whom he communicated. The resignation of both Smith and Burman will be recorded. The latest battery servicing company founded by Smith and Burman will be checked and the worki ngs will be tracked of. Comparing the papers of the two companies can help to know whether they have copied the documents from Needful Things Ltd or not (Tanimoto et al. 2015). The VOIP phones call lists, the companys document papers, the Internet browser history, password protected files; the hard drive containing confidential data of the clients can provide the evidence. An account of what the forensic examiner would do to the evidence, with supporting Documentation The evidences have been collected and based on the evidences the investigation must start. The file carving in the desktop must be conducted; the file carving will bring back the deleted fragments of data. The data which Smith deletes recently can be achieved by file carving methodologies (Sutardja, Ramadan and Zhao 2015). The email analysis can help to trace the webmail on the hard disk. The email analysis can help to know the deleted emails as well. The documents over the CDs and the USB drive can be analysed, the timestamps, MD5 Hashing and the metadata information can be analysed to get to the solution. The password cracking software can prove to be helpful to crack the specific files over the CDs and the USB drive. The Internet usage analysis can help to know the Internet surfing data of Smith. The hard disk space analysis can be beneficial to solve the case. There are fragments in the hard disks that remain unallocated and analysis of those fragments can be helpful to know the deleted files. The deleted files can be useful for the investigation. The files stored in Smiths computer must be analysed and will have to determine the type. In this way the investigation should be carried on and documentation must be done based on this (Sharma and Dhavale 2016). The recovery files retrieved as a result of investigation must be checked with the files stored in the server Titanic01. Finally those recovery files must be verified by the CEO, if matches then Smith will be found guilty. Making presumptions on the findings or answers to the interview questions The CEO already stated that Smith knew many trade secrets of Needful Things Ltd. and Smith also mentioned he wanted to initiate a company who will provide the specialized industrial battery servicing facilities. The CEO of Needful Things Ltd. also searched the Internet and found a new company with similar workings has been found and Smith is the Director of the company (Rumsey 2016). Burman, another employee of Needful Things Ltd. resigned at the same time and both Smith and Burman are the Directors of the new company. This is quite obvious and can be assumed that both Smith and Burman will use their expertise and trade secrets to flourish their new company. Again, the file named CLIENTS2017.xls is password protected and by the name of the file it can be assumed that the file contains the clients data of Needful Things Ltd. in the year 2017 (Zhao, Sutardja and Ramadan 2015). It may happen Smith and Burman can provide services to the clients as representative of their new company. Thu s it can be presumed that Smith is guilty, in other case it may happen Smith is innocent, the forensic examiner must analyse everything from core and should take the correct decision. Supporting additional documentation to the forensic examiners written submission that will be accepted Needful Things Ltd should have CCTV camera installed at their premises. The video footage can act as a good evidence to detect the crime. The forensic examiner should collect the video footage of couple of months and should observe Smith more attentively. It may happen some more clues or evidence will emerge that can help the forensic examiner (Zhao, Sutardja and Ramadan 2015). However, the abnormal behavior if found any in the footage must be recorded and must be documented as this can help in the investigation. Conclusion It can be concluded from the above discourse that the digital forensics can assist in finding out the truth. As a forensic manager, what advice should be given to the CEO has been highlighted. The enquiry questionnaires that must be presented to the HR, The CEO and the IT Department Staff have been showcased in the report. All the evidence that can assist in the investigation procedure has been detailed in the report as well. The presumptions about the case have been discussed. The documentation must be prepared to support the evidence and the case. The breakdown analysis of the evidence and the additional supportive documentation has been presented in the report which can support the investigation procedure. Concepts of Decision Making

Decision making is the most important and critical role that a manager must make as a routine duty. In the employee recruitment several decisions must be made at each stage of the recruitment process.Advertising We will write a custom article sample on Concepts of Decision Making specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Kahneman and Tversky suggest that, â€Å"During decision making the steps to be followed include: identification of opportunities, searching of alternative courses of action, evaluation of the alternatives, choosing from the alternatives and implementation of the chosen course of action† (23). In a given selection process various decisions points have been considered but probably much more were not looked into. First decision to be made is the design of the advertisement that should attract qualified interested candidates for consideration. This decision must also take into account which advertisement channel should be used, that is the media chosen should be one that can reach the targeted and qualified candidates. In the advertisement the job description and any required professional and personality traits must be categorically stated (Kahneman and Tversky 67). Secondly, decisions must also be made as on which type of recruitment would be appropriate; internal or external recruitment method. This decision looks into whether the required skill can be found from among the organisation employees or from outside the organisation. The selection will also depend on the motive of the firm and the cost the organisation is ready to incur in the recruitment process. Kenper and Tregoe, claim that another important decision that must be considered in the staffing processes is the time (34). Time must be of great essence as it will determine when a new employee is to join the organisation. This decision depends on the manpower need as per the organisations activities. During the staffing process some fac tors about the candidates should also be considered. They include: diversity, culture of the applicant, gender together with race. In the selection criteria consideration as to the retention of the hired candidate is factored. Retention needs help to minimise the cost of high employee turnover that may lead to increase of organisations staffing cost. During selection, the decision on references is crucial as it is through this that the candidate’s previous performance and capabilities are determined. This performance must be matched with the job requirement to ensure it is applicable with the job requirement. The right number of personnel requirement has to be looked into. This number is based on the evaluation of the number of vacancies and any other need that may demand further consideration.Advertising Looking for article on business economics? This decision identifies the opportunities for career growth and upward mobility of an employee in the organisation. The decision is determined by the candidate’s ability to learn and improve his skills together with the improvement of actual performance. The human resource department has to come up with the premises for measuring performance and identifying the growth ability in the organisation. Industrial decisions are also a vital factor for making staffing decisions. Since organisations operate in a competitive environment they need to monitor the trend and rapid changes around thus making staffing decisions essential. Organisation has to consider the industry’s remuneration rates and working conditions. This will assist in the design of the contract agreement and condition. Finally, decisions on the posting, orientation and rewards for the employees are made. This decision acquaints the picked candidate with the motivation and knowledge neede d to start executing the organisational mandate. Human resource department has the duty to attract and employ candidates who can improve the efficiency and organisations performance. Work Cited Kahneman, Daniel and Tversky, Amos. Tourism in Australia essays

Tourism in Australia essays Given the declining world commodity market and the consequent poor performance of Australias mining and agricultural sectors, the government must acknowledge tourism as the key growth sector. Without sound management strategies and a co-ordinated policy framework, long-term growth in tourism and hospitality cannot be sustained, benefits will not be maximised and the various resources may be depleted as carrying capacities rapidly are reached. A global national perspective is not sufficient, indeed even a national perspective is not sufficient - industry impacts varies from one state and region to another in terms of the type of activities, the intensity of tourist activity and the social/cultural/environmental/economic objectives. Government has no choice but to apply a large variety of measures: information and education; economic measures including financing and environmental/cultural protection; standards and regulatory instruments; planning; and management strategies. While the central agency focus is essential, this must be fully integrated with similar functions at state and local government levels to ensure their work and initiatives complement rather than conflict with each other The Sport and Tourism Division within the Department of Industry, Science and Resources (DISR) set the national policy and direction for tourism, leisure and hospitality in Australia. This division is charged with developing, implementing and administering Federal Government policy and programs relating to the sport and recreation and tourism sectors. This is designed to create an economic and policy environment conducive to the continued growth of these dynamic sectors. The Divisions objective is to increase the innovation and competitiveness of Australias sport and tourism industries (BTR, 2000.Pg.1). Given the size of the tourist industry in Australia, the adequacy of this level of representation (ie. buried within a larg...

The Giver by Lois Lowry Essay Example for Free

The Giver by Lois Lowry Essay Using specific examples from the book compare and contrast Jonas world with your world.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Jonas lives in a peaceful and structured community where people follow rules and instructions without hesitation (p.1). Most instructions and reprimands are transmitted over the loudspeakers that are placed around the community (pp.2, 22-23, 37). In Jonas world, children are born to Birthmothers (pp. 21, 53) and are raised in the nurturing center with other newborn infants. Children are given a name and a number and are assigned to couples (p. 13) who are only allowed to have two children, a male and a female (p.8). Underweight infants (pp.148-150), maladaptive citizens (p.7), people who break rules (pp.2 and 9) and the elderly people (pp.7, 28, 31-32) are released from the society. Children are well behaved and they are not allowed to ride the bicycle until they turn nine (p.13). From eight to eleven years of age, children are required to do volunteer work (pp.26 and 45) and at twelve, they are given their assignments or careers as new adult members of the community (pp.53-60). People in the community cannot see colors (p.95) nor feel pains (p.110) and love (p.126-127) because they chose sameness (p.95). In our world, we have the liberty to choose our professions and our spouses. Parents nurture and give birth to their own children. Couples can have as much children as they want. We are open to diversity and we accept individual differences. The law in our society does not permit the practice of euthanasia on children with congenital abnormalities as well as the elderly people. Although we are governed by laws, we are not expected to behave in a structured manner. Most people have the capability to see the colors of our environment, to experience joy, sadness, love and pain. How does the author Lowry use imagery to describe snow and war?   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   In describing the snow, Lois Lowry use imagery that relates to the visual, tactile and kinesthetic sensation of the body, e.g. sight of a bright, whirling torrent of crystals in the air (p.81), feeling of cold air and snowflakes on Jonas skin and tongue (p.80-81, 92), and the sensation of going downhill on a sled (pp.81-82, 92). Since Jonas has received so many memories in the past, he was asked to share the painful memory of war that was too much for the Giver to endure (p.118). The imagery used by Lowry in describing war is more detailed. The images appeal to our five senses the sight of several groaning men on the field (p118), a boy in uniform glistering with wet, fresh blood (p.119) and witnessing men and animals die (p.120); the scent of the foul-smelling place (p.118); the sense of hearing the thud of cannons and people begging for water (p.119-120); and the sense of touch or feeling as Jonas hold the metal container of water and feel the excruciating pain in his arm (p.119).

Social Exchange Theory Essay -- essays research papers

Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Social Exchange Theory 2 Application of: The Social Exchange Theory In everyday interactions people are always looking to have a positive experience among those with whom they interact. According to the Social Exchange theory, with each interaction an individual has with another, that individual attempts to maximize the positive outcomes and minimize the negative. The purpose of this paper is to apply the Social Exchange theory to an authentic real life situation to best illustrate the theory and the key concepts that it holds. In applying the social exchange theory from demonstration, to application, to then explanation, a better understanding in terms of the value of the theory will be shown, as well as the function that it has in everyday life. An episode that best characterizes the Social Exchange theory is one that involves my ex-girlfriend, and myself. We had been having our share of problems when, one day, every argument and disagreement we had culminated into this moment when everything just seemed to explode. She had been angry with me for having left San Diego to attend school in Santa Barbara and I was angry with her for her being angry. I wanted support, and instead, all I received was a guilt trip about how I was never there for her. After five minutes of talking, or rather complaining, we both agreed to disagree. In that instant the two of us had the realization, as many couples do, that it just was not working and the negatives far outweighed the positives. There was no minimizing the negative outcomes because everything had a negative ending. Later, the Social Exchange theory will be   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Social Exchange Theory 3 applied to this episode, but for now it is best to comprehend how the Social Exchange theory works.  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   To fully understand the Social Exchange theory is to understand its concept.
